Distributed & Mobile Systems Engineering

Welcome to the home page of the DAMON research group in the Department of Civil Engineering and Computer Science Engineering (DICII) at the Tor Vergata University of Rome.

Our group carries out research activities in the fields of distributed systems and cloud-edge computing, with a focus on the deployment and runtime management of applications across the cloud-edge-HPC continuum, from microservices and serverless functions to AI and HPC workloads. We place a strong emphasis on the modeling, analysis, and optimization of Quality of Service (QoS) for adaptive and autonomous systems.

Our overarching goal is to investigate large, networked, evolving systems with demanding performance and dependability requirements, where dynamic changes are the rule rather than the exception.

λ
Why DAMON? From Greek mythology: Δαμων (Damon), "one who tames" (derived from δαμαω (damao), "to tame").
